For the first edition of Belouka Makelele, we revisit a set by dr. Mazza & DJ Ray in London for Black Pride celebration. Close friends who met in 2024 in Brasil, dr. Mazza & DJ Ray share their love for music, sociology and innovation, both working towards a higher representation of Black women in music and the creative scene. Here’s more about DJ Ray, “Ai DJ RAY!” DJ RAY, the stage name of Rayanne Duarte, is one of the leading figures in the Black and peripheral cultural scene. With roots in Uberlândia (MG) and Campinas (SP), she grew up immersed in music and dance, where art has been and continues to be her identity. Known for mastering rhythms such as funk, rap, house, afrobeats, and more, DJ RAY has performed in several Brazilian cities, is the DJ for Ajuliacosta, and went on a European tour in 2024 & 2025, with shows in Paris, London, and Milan. She is also featured on international radio stations like Half Moon, Rinse, and Foundation FM, and collaborates with labels such as Kondzilla. DJ RAY continues to captivate audiences with her diverse mixes, bringing a unique energy and connecting people through a selection that blends tradition and innovation in every performance.
